Aviation

In the turbulent years of the First World War, New York bartender Hugo Esslin conjured up the purple of the twilight sky by mixing cherry liqueur, crème de violette and squeezed lemon juice with gin. Today it is still shaken in a shaker and poured into a martini glass and garnished with cocktail cherries.

Bramble

This modern classic was born in London in the 1980s and went on to conquer the world. The "bramble" owes its pleasantly tart and sweet-fruity taste to its English namesake, the wild blackberry. Pour over crushed ice and garnish with half a lemon wedge and a blackberry.

Corpse Reviver

This cocktail, traditionally used to forget a hangover, also raises the dead. However, legendary bartender Harry Craddock warned that drinking four in quick succession will put the resurrected back to rest. Shaken in a shaker and poured into a martini glass.
